Woman merges w Car, No. 2 is a stationary segment of the live Yemenwed performance, Woman merges w Car, No. 1, which was originally performed at Jack Hanley Gallery in New York City. The piece is a rhythmic puzzle performed in sequential gestures by three women. The performance is set inside an abstract bathroom, where one woman merges with nature, another with technology, as a third mediates between the two as a mime narrator. The set is composed of abstract interior objects, sculptures, and video projections. The performance space was a tiny storefront on the lower east side of Manhattan, and the work is further contextualized by the passers by, as well as the fruit stand next door. The audience watches from the street. The front wall of the space, which was transparent glass, served as both a projection surface as well as a window to frame the live performative action.
